Dear Dr. Goldman,
My name is Livia Drusilla, and I am here to apply for the position of family court judge. I have various effective qualities for this occupation. These features consist of, but are not limited to, being a strong advocate for stable family interactions, the continual support of what is ethical, selflessness, and impartialness to bias. Though I have minor experience in this field, the continual stress and torment that results from working my current job as the first lady of Rome have pushed me to consult other options as a permanent occupation. I was presented with this profession at the local occupation fair at the Roman Forum and was immediately drawn to the offer. After looking over the website for this organization, I found that various of my core values strongly align with the mission and values presented. I was specifically enticed by the vow of all judges to commit to “...working, in the best way we can, on behalf of children, families, survivors, and victims of violence.”
My time spent as the first lady of the Roman Empire has presented me with its fair share of conflicts regarding the test of keeping homes a safe environment for all. One personal anecdote that I can reference is my service as the primary advocate behind what we know now as the “nuclear family.” Before I inherited power, various Roman families began to deviate from prioritizing a stable household to focusing on temporary concepts such as wealth and trade. Though this drive shift led to an advanced increase in wealth across our Empire, my husband and I began to realize that these families took a massive hit. I worked to improve these regressions by influencing my husband’s court decisions. One of the primary fields that I focused my time on was wrongfully imprisoned individuals and their impacted families. Due to the patriarchal nature of Rome at the time of my inheritance, families relied on the financial support of fathers and husbands to keep them from falling into poverty. Due to these men and husbands being the most prominent percentage of imprisoned individuals within our court system, I made sure to work alongside my husband to ensure that no wrongfully imprisoned individuals suffered extreme punishments. By doing this, I was able to preserve the lives of hundreds of individuals, many of whom were fathers and husbands. Given my persistence to stick with this idea that I considered extremely valuable to the preservation of Roman culture, I believe that this demonstrates my attention to detail and perseverance on a topic that many tend to disregard. I also feel that this demonstrates my selfless nature, as there was no gain in acting on this project besides watching family members be united as one.
I would be more than happy to come into your office and further discuss my qualifications and intentions and answer any questions you may have regarding the information I have provided you. Whether this be in the form of an interview or a simple meeting over coffee, I would be eager to discuss options regarding potential employment. If you have any inquiries that pop up either before or after the interview, we will later plan, feel free to reach out. I have provided my email address and phone number should this occur.
Sincerely,
Livia Drusilla
